Kansas Soldier makes Marathon Team pushing friend to finish of Lincoln Marathon

1st Lt. Nicholas Lahr, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot with the Kansas Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 108th Aviation Regiment, and Samuel Butalla participated in the 46th annual Lincoln Marathon, which also serves as the National Guard Marathon Team trials, May 7, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska. More than 200 National Guard Airmen and Soldiers from across the country competed.

National Guard athletes from all 54 states and territories race in the 46th annual Lincoln Marathon, which also served as the National Guard Marathon Team trials, held May 7, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska. More than 230 National Guard Airmen and Soldiers competed for spots on the “All Guard” Marathon Team. The National Guard Military Competitions Program, which includes the All Guard Marathon And Endurance Teams, exists to promote physical fitness, self-discipline and esprit de corps among National Guard members while assisting recruiting and retention efforts at each community where they compete.
