Around 350 Nebraska National Guard Soldiers, Airmen and their families took a ride on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Holiday Express train, Nov. 28, from Omaha to Ashland and back. The railway holds the event annually throughout the country to thank military families for their service. The two-hour train ride included hot chocolate, cookies and a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, who gave each participant a BNSF snowflake ornament. After returning to the depot in Omaha, the railway presented a $10,000 donation to the Nebraska National Guard Foundation, an organization supporting Nebraska Soldiers, Airmen and their families in times of need.
